ABOUT ME

Hey there!

Let's dive right in. My name is Raegan and my business is named after myself. I've always appreciated having a unique name, especially the spelling, and thought why not take advantage of that? I strongly believe in the power of personal connections when it comes to doing business and it doesn't get much more personal than a first name.

By now I'm sure you have gathered that I am an artist and designer, but I would love to introduce myself on a deeper level. First off, I am a Virgo. This means I am extremely down- to-earth, passionate, strong-willed, and I strive for perfection. Second, I am an optimist and I look for the good in most, if not all, situations. Lastly, I wear my heart on my sleeve. I love what I love, and I'm not afraid to expose myself and feelings, and be vulnerable.

I grew up in the small town of Macon, GA. I attended elementary, middle, high school, and even a year of college all within a mile radius in that same city. Eventually, I did move away to attend Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA (an even smaller town). The small town environment can seem crippling at times when you're a big dreamer like I am, but if I've learned anything in my 26 years of life, it's that it's not about where you are, but what you do. I lived in Savannah, Macon and Atlanta post graduating college, and am currently in Atlanta.

When an artist creates, a piece of that artist is in their work. We get emotionally attached to our pieces, because we put that much of ourselves into them during the creative process. I'm here to serve as an artist, but I want to be a friend as well, because you don't just give pieces of your heart and soul to strangers. If you have art by me in your home, I want you to know the story behind it and the story behind me as an artist.

I hope you've found my website helpful, and if you'd like to chat further, please e-mail me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. :)

During my time at Mercer, I was studying Industrial Design. I took a few Engineering classes which have definitely inspired my career as an artist. In one class, we learned the specifics of building a robot car, and a structural, weight-bearing bridge (out of toothpicks). Through doing these projects, we had to create Proposals and learned how to properly present a Design/Projects, and I think that process influenced how I present designs today in my career. I love details and presenting information very clearly to my clients and I can thank my Engineering background for learning how to do that.

At Georgia Southern, I studied Civil Engineering, Graphic Design and 3D Design. While in the Engineering program, I learned AutoCAD which I loved and picked up on really quickly. I realized that was pretty much the only thing I enjoyed about the Engineer life, and decided to switch majors. I landed in the Graphic Design classes, which seemed like a perfect fit, but I knew something wasn't right. I wasn't catching on to things as quickly as I thought I would, I found myself extremely behind all my classmates, and frankly I just didn't care as much. I was much more interested in the hands-on art classes: Drawing, Ceramics and 3D Design. Because of that, I switched majors to 3D Design and the rest is history. I do mostly paintings these days, but I also have a passion for 3D Design, sculpture and modeling.

While in college, I worked for a sign company called Whitfield Signs. I had no knowledge of the Sign Industry, but I figured it was a creative field, building and designing three dimensional things, so it was somewhat related. It was there that I learned how to have clients, customer service, meet deadlines, and I got to learn so many things about structural and architectural design. I fell in love with it immediately and continue to work in the sign industry today.

In 2019, I moved to Atlanta and got to work for a much larger, more established sign company where I got to learn even more. I learned how to work with a larger Design team, and how to communicate with Sales Reps, and Fabricators who you may not ever even see in person. It's a much different process than being at a smaller company where you see every single person you work with multiple times throughout the day.

After working with DeNyse for a year, I decided to join a smaller company again. It was there I got to really use the knowledge I had gained from the other places I worked, and feel like I really knew what I was doing. I got to see all parts of the Sign Building process and ask all the questions. I am forever grateful for these opportunities, the people I got to meet and learn from, and the knowledge I gained that still helps me out today in my own business.

Once I realized I wanted to pursue my true passion in Fine Art, I had no idea where to start and needed a mentor. By the grace of God I ended up working with Allison and she helped me so much! I still work with her whenever she needs me, but we are more like long-lost sisters rather than coworkers. :)
